On 17 August 2023, the annual TAIAN Risk Management Forum took place, this time in the city of Yinchuan. Every year it is organised by the "TAIAN Agricultural Insurance Institute" with the support of the "Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences" and the "Agricultural Insurance Research Center of Nankai University".
Exciting high-level lectures by representatives of the government, the insurance and reinsurance industry as well as academia provided information on the development of the rapidly growing Chinese agricultural insurance market. In addition, CPPIC (China Pacific Property Insurance Company) presented the latest version of its "e-agricultural insurance" based on digital technologies. The forum was rounded off by a panel discussion on the topic of risk reduction, which was attended by six participants.
Representing AIAG, Pascal Forrer, President of AIAG, gave the more than 400 participants an overview of AIAG's work and spoke on the topic of "Agricultural insurance – An international insight".
The varied programme provided an insight into the Chinese agricultural insurance industry. It became clear that the steadily growing market still has great potential for development and growth. The well-developed public-private partnership programme and the use of the latest technologies are likely to play a major role in this.
After the forum, the AIAG President met the management of CPPIC in Shanghai for an exchange as well as for visits to modern farms in the region around the city of Suzhou.
