AIAG at the 75th Crop Insurance Industry Annual Convention in Bonita Springs, Florida

From February 12 to 15, 2023, the 75th annual meeting of the U.S. agricultural insurance industry was held, jointly organised by NCIS (National Crop Insurance Services) and AACI (American Association of Crop Insurers).

Exciting presentations underscored the central importance of agricultural insurance to U.S. farmers. Furthermore, the "Farm Bill" to be passed by the Congress – House of Representatives and Senate – by the end of 2023 was an important topic; among other things, it regulates the funding of agricultural insurance programs for the next five years. In addition, an agricultural economic outlook and an update on the activities of the RMA (Risk Management Agency of the United States Department of Agriculture) were presented.

As representatives of AIAG, the President of the Association, Pascal Forrer of the Schweizer Hagel Insurance, as well as Dr. Rainer Langner of Vereinigte Hagel participated in the convention after the three-year interruption caused by the pandemic. They were able to resume valuable personal contacts and to establish new ones. This particularly applies to the contact with Tom Zacharias, President of NCIS and also an AIAG Board member, with senior representatives of US agricultural insurance companies, with representatives of the RMA and of international reinsurers.

The varied and stimulating programme provided a profound insight into the long-established and stable American private-public partnership system, the extremely extensive range of insurance products and the successful agricultural insurance companies in the market.

We congratulate the NCIS and the AACI for organising this successful event with top-class participants.
