The 36th AIAG Congress was held in Istanbul, Türkiye from June 12-15, 2022 on the theme "Trends in agricultural risk management: climate, technology and public-private institutional solutions".
Pascal Forrer, President of AIAG, welcomed the approximately 300 international participants and speakers on June 12, 2022, at the Conrad Hotel in Istanbul. Serpil GÜNAL, CEO of this year's host TARSIM as well as Kerim ÜSTÜN and Mete GÜLER from the TARSIM Board of Directors opened the congress with an insight into their company and the Turkish agricultural economy. The Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry joined via Zoom to welcome all participants to Türkiye. The congress opening was concluded with the presentation of thank you gifts to the sponsors.
During two days, interesting presentations on the general global situation of agriculture, the impact of climate change and technological possibilities addressed the role of agricultural insurance as an important risk management tool. In two workshops, the topics of index insurance / loss assessment, on the one hand, and animal diseases and pests, on the other, were intensively discussed. Around 300 experts took part in the congress. The diverse program enabled a comprehensive exchange on the challenges of crop insurance and agriculture. It turned out that the adaptation of agriculture, such as the implementation of possible preventive measures, is an essential factor in actively facing climate change and ensuring agricultural production in the long term. In addition to the presentations, there was enough time for bilateral discussions and to make new contacts during the aperitif or dinner.
At the end of the congress, the participants enjoyed a boat trip on the Bosphorus and Turkish specialties for lunch.
We would like to thank TARSIM for the hospitality and the good cooperation, our sponsors for their generous support, all participants and speakers for their participation and everyone who contributed to the success of the congress!
